Michael Young to Captain Barbarians Against Durham University RFC
Michael Young’s Testimonial Year continues to add new highlights, with the exciting news that he will captain the world-famous Barbarians in a special fixture against Durham University RFC on Saturday 3rd May 2025.
The match, taking place at Durham City RFC, celebrates the 150th anniversary of Durham University Rugby Football Club, a brilliant achievement for one of the most respected rugby institutions in the country.
Michael, who will feature in the back line, will lead a Barbarians side known for its entertaining and free-flowing style of rugby, offering fans a chance to see Young showcase the skills that made him such a respected player throughout his career.
Speaking ahead of the match, Michael said: “It’s a real honour to be asked to captain the Barbarians, especially for such a special occasion. Your ticket includes entry to DUWRFC vs North East Select, kicking off at 12.00pm on the same day.

No dogs are allowed on site at Durham City Rugby Club.
Food and drink will be on sale all day.
A Live Band will play after the matches.
