Alan Shearer and Michael Young to headline ‘9 and Dine’ at Wylam Brewery

Two of Newcastle’s most iconic number 9s; football legend Alan Shearer and rugby star Michael Young, will come together on Thursday 6th November 2025 for a special event at the stunning Wylam Brewery.

‘9 and Dine is set to be one of the standout evenings of the year. Attendees will enjoy a sit-down dinner, followed by a live conversation between Shearer and Young, offering candid insight into their careers, memories of wearing their number 9 shirts, and the shared experiences that connect football and rugby at the highest level. The evening will also feature musical entertainment, games, raffles, and both a live and silent auction.

Located in the heart of Newcastle, the venue is close to local and national transport links, including metro and trains. Guests are encouraged to dress smartly and arrive from 6:00pm, with the evening expected to conclude around midnight.

This event is part of Michael Young’s Testimonial Year, which celebrates his long-standing contribution to rugby and his enduring impact both on and off the pitch. The testimonial honours not only his career achievements with Newcastle Falcons but also his commitment to using sport as a platform for positive change, fundraising in support of his chosen charities; Alan Shearer Foundation and My Name’5 Doddie.

The Alan Shearer Foundation supports people with complex disabilities, while My Name’5 Doddie continues to raise vital funds for motor neurone disease research and support services.
